Keep the Peace: Jogoo FM Appeals to All Citizens Ahead of the January 15th Elections

With the January 15th elections unfolding, Jogoo FM is calling on all citizens to rise above tension and stand firmly for peace. Elections test emotions, loyalties, and patience, but they should never break the unity that binds communities together. In this moment, our greatest strength lies in calmness, respect, and responsibility. We are urging every listener — whether in Busia, across Uganda, or tuning in globally — to remember that the value of life and harmony is far greater than any political outcome. Peace is not just a message; it is a duty we all share.

As people head out to cast their votes, we encourage everyone to move with calm hearts and clear minds. Refuse to be provoked, refuse to provoke others, and refuse to engage in any form of violence or intimidation. Emotions may run high, but maturity shows in how we handle them. No leader, no party, and no moment of excitement is worth destroying the relationships we depend on every day. After the ballots are counted, we will still return to the same communities, the same families, and the same shared spaces. Let the choices we make today protect the peace we want tomorrow.

We are also urging voters to be very cautious about the information they consume and share. Elections come with an overwhelming flow of rumours, edited videos, fake statements, and misleading posts designed to spark fear or anger. Jogoo FM encourages everyone to verify information before reacting to it. Stay close to credible sources and avoid spreading anything you’re not sure of. When people stay informed responsibly, the atmosphere becomes calmer and safer for everyone involved. Misinformation is one of the biggest threats to peace — controlling it is one of our biggest duties.

Throughout this election period, Jogoo FM presenters and DJs are actively engaging listeners with messages of unity, assurance, and positive energy. By broadcasting in English, Luganda, Kiswahili, and Lusamia-Lugwe, we make sure our peace appeal reaches families and communities in a language they understand deeply. Every show includes reminders to stay composed, avoid conflict, and prioritise the wellbeing of neighbours. This is our role as the Voice of the People — not just playing music, but guiding our audience through moments that require clarity and wisdom.

As voting continues and results begin to take shape, Jogoo FM asks everyone to maintain the same spirit of peace, regardless of the final outcome. Celebrate peacefully. Express disappointment peacefully. Move through the day with patience and discipline. Elections are temporary — but the unity of our country must remain permanent. Together, we can ensure that January 15th becomes a story of responsibility, maturity, and national pride. Let peace lead, and let every citizen play their part in protecting our future.
